ARCTOS III - POLAR EXPEDITION
After quite a short trip to Svalbard in 2002 when the expedition team could only look across fjords at the beautiful sharp and white peaks of Oscar II Land, they decided to return and cross this land. From the south end of Oscar II Land, across the glacier to Ny Ålesund, then to Newtontoppen - the highest peak of Svalbard - and south to Longyearbyen (or Pyramiden if they run out of time).
The long journey by ship to Svalbard will start April 14, 2007 and is expected to last four weeks. The Svalbard part of the expedition is planned for six weeks.
At the top of Newtontoppen, a meeting with the Frozen Five expedition is arranged. Those who come first win, the other expedition will have to pay drinks for them.
Expedition members are all Czech: Jan Stovicek, Bohumil Petru, Dana Veverkova, Radka Zounkova, Libor Kriz, Jan Kral.
